Well, we’re all still here…the earth is still here….so far there’s no news of any countries spontaneously combusting into flames over the end of the world hype. And since it’s that time of the year, I thought I’d take a break from rice month and take a moment to feel celebratory!
It’s Christmas today and everywhere and everyone, whether you celebrate the festivities or not, will definitely feel the ‘jolliness’ in the air. After Christmas will just be a few days before the new year, so I think it’s appropriate to recollect 2012 and showcase some dishes to commemorate a double celebration!
So I thought I would highlight some recipes that celebrates Christmas and some recipes that would be great if you’re hosting a New Year party. Of course these are just my preference and opinion, I’m sure everyone has their own ideas but if you don’t….I hope these yummy offerings will meet you half way.
Starters
Parmesan Cheese Twists
Mini Sausage Rolls
Scotch Eggs
Soups

Curried Butternut Squash Soup
French Onion Soup
Salads
Caesar Salad
Shrimp Avocado Salad
Main
Cajun Chicken with Creamy Mushroom Sauce
Trimmings / Accompaniments
Brussel Sprouts with Cranberries
Hasselback Potatoes
Dessert
Red Velvet Cheese-Marbled Brownies
Cherry Cheese Pound Cake
Molten Lava Cake
Drinks

Now here’s what I want to elaborate little. I know when we talk Christmas, eggnogs and mulled wine comes to mind…but personally I have been too scared to try eggnog for the fact that it has raw eggs in them but for this season, why not try some unusual cocktails and drinks to get you in the mood and also celebrate the fact that the Mayans were dead wrong in their prediction!
Currently I can’t take in any alcohol or else I’ll settle for good old glass of vintage or bubbly but in case you want something more special, try my Strawberry Fizz, just replace the sparkling water with an alcoholic beverage of your choice.
Merry Christmas and
A Happy New Year!
